Professional services firm Deloitte has made further number of senior leadership appointments in Australia.
The transformation practice of professional services firm Deloitte has capped its recent Accenture raid with the appointment of Karthik Karunanithi as the new national leader for the practice’s ‘Operate’ division.
Meanwhile, Deloitte’s Melbourne managing partner Ian Trevorah has taken on the additional role of National Markets Leader, while David Haynes takes over as head of Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance practice for New South Wales.
Karthik Karunanithi
Following on the heels of a quartet of his former colleagues, Karunanithi crosses to Deloitte in Sydney after spending the past eighteen years at Accenture, the past half a decade as a managing director and head of the firm’s Next Gen Enterprise (Global Business Services Transformation) practice at the intersection of Accenture Strategy and Accenture Operations. Karunanithi kicked off his career with a three-year stint in auditing at PwC.
“Karthik is highly experienced in leading end-to-end shared services and operations transformation, including originating, shaping, selling and delivering end to end strategy and operations transformations,” commented Dennis Krallis, appointed Deloitte’s Chief Transformation Officer in 2021. ‘Karthik will lead our Operate team building, scaling and delivering innovative solutions and exponential value for clients.”
Ian Trevorah

Admitted to Deloitte’s partnership in 2007, Trevorah has also previously acted as longtime Victoria public sector lead. He takes over from Adelaide office managing partner Andrew Culley, who also serves as Deloitte Private managing partner.
Trevorah’s appointment continues a recent changing of the guard for one branch of the firm’s executive, with Paul Rehder taking over from now chief commercial officer Pete Forrester as national managing partner for Clients, Industries & Markets at the end of last year. Last month, Vanessa Matthijssen was appointed as Industries lead while Canberra office managing partner Phillip Roberts was given the national Clients assignment.
David Haynes

He kicked off his accounting career with Horwath in 1998 following the completion of a commerce degree with Macquarie University, and now oversees a Sydney practice home to close to half of the firm’s Audit & Assurance practitioners.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice in New South Wales – a 1,000-plus team of professionals,” Haynes stated of his new appointment. “In this role, I am responsible for strengthening our client relationships and our market impact. For me, success in this role is about connecting the dot’s between our teams, the issues that matter, and the key leaders in the market to enable impact at scale.”
