Philip Morris International has named EFESO Consulting one of its top external partners, during its latest Supplier Recognition Awards.

Held for the third time, the company’s Supplier Recognition Awards place the spotlights on suppliers that have played an instrumental partnering role in the company’s strategic transformation – which includes pivoting its business model towards a smoke-free future.

“At Philip Morris International, we value the long-lasting relationships we have fostered with our suppliers, which have helped us bring forth our innovation while also helping us to solve critical business challenges,” said Hafed Belhadj, Chief Procurement Officer of the company.

“It is only through the continued support of our suppliers that we will be successful in delivering a smoke-free future. Our Supplier Recognition Awards provides us the opportunity to shine a light on suppliers who have demonstrated best-in-class solutions and practices,” he added.

Awards were handed out across five categories, with the Value Creation prize going to EFESO Consulting, an international strategic operations and supply chain consultancy.

Among other projects EFESO Consulting delivered over the period under consideration was helping Philip Morris International transform the way it collaborates with a key equipment supplier, and helping the tobacco giant with adopting best practices in its manufacturing operation – with the global consultancy injecting “disruptive learnings” garnered in other industries.

Commenting on the recognition, Reza Shahrbabaki, Vice President for Engineering Solutions at Philip Morris International, said: “This award recognises suppliers that actively contribute to the company’s transformation by finding improvement opportunities, solving challenges, and joining forces to achieve success.”

Shahrbabaki added that EFESO Consulting’s work served as the foundation for “true gamechanging impact” within the company.

The four other supplier awards meanwhile were bagged by AWS (Innovation Award), CMA CGM (Sustainability Award), Venture (Chief Procurement Officer Award), Special Award (STMicroelectronics).
