Global consultancy HKA has closed its second deal since the launch of its new strategic growth plan, now welcoming UK-based GMR Aviation Consulting to its ranks.

The acquisition of London-based GMR Aviation Consulting adds a core team of experts to HKA’s Forensic Technical Services practice, along with a wider multi-disciplined team of 40+ aviation professionals who join HKA’s as independent consulting experts.

Operating out of the United Kingdom, GMR Aviation Consulting provides expert consulting and training services to the civil and military aviation sectors. Clients include some of the world’s largest global aeronautical companies, as well as medium- and small-sized businesses and entrepreneurial boutiques.

HKA’s Forensic Technical Services practice comprises around 500 forensic technical expert witnesses specialised in multiple industries. The practice already provides services to the aviation disputes market and to legal clients serving the sector, with GMR Aviation Consulting deepening these capabilities.

Meanwhile, GMR Aviation Consulting also brings a number of new capabilities to HKA, “allowing us to extend our service offering to existing and new clients,” said Gerry Brannigan, Partner and Head of Forensic Technical Services for the EMEA region.

“Aviation-related disputes are on the rise, and with the acquisition of GMR Aviation Consulting, HKA now has an unrivalled portfolio of some of the very best global aviation experts which will bring real value to our clients. We are delighted to further enhance the value HKA offers to clients.”

The deal follows the November 2022 acquisition of US-based TM Financial Forensics, which added 65 professionals to its American team. Backed by French investor PAI Partners, HKA is expected to close more deals in the coming years, with inorganic growth considered a key add-on to the firm’s organic growth ambitions.

While the firm and investor have not disclosed a growth target, they do speak of a “next phase of growth” centred around “accelerated growth” and “building a top tier global brand”. Today, HKA has over 1,100 professionals across 40+ offices in 18 countries.

“We are incredibly proud to be joining HKA, the leading global consultancy in risk mitigation and dispute resolution.  We have worked hard to provide an exceptional service to our clients and the HKA brand now enhances our capabilities and provides the opportunity to expand our customer base from regional to truly global,” said Lloyd Watson, CEO of GMR Aviation Consulting.
