FTI Consulting has over the past months strengthened its Technology business in the DACH region with two (senior) managing directors: Jerry Lay and Dominic Piernot.

Based in Switzerland, Jerry Lay has been appointed a Senior Managing Director in the firm’s Technology division. He brings more than 15 years of experience in investigations and financial crime work, and has led numerous high-profile investigations related to allegations of fraud and corruption, misappropriation of assets, conflict of interest, market manipulation and data theft.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Lay served in a leadership role in disputes and investigations at Alvarez & Marsal in Zurich. Previously, he served as the chief financial officer of a pharmaceutical group, and spent close to a decade at Big Four firms Deloitte and EY.

Lay has been tasked with setting up and growing FTI Consulting’s Technology service line in Switzerland. “Clients require the support of experts who specialise in practice area including investigations, information governance, blockchain, digital assets and technology resilience. Jerry’s leadership will be integral to delivering across these areas in Switzerland,” said Renato Fazzone, Europe Leader of FTI Technology.

Based in Germany, Dominic Piernot has joined as a Managing Director in the Düsseldorf office. He brings more than 12 years of experience in discovery, investigations and data protection to the Technology wing of the global consultancy.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Piernot was a Managing Director at legal IT consulting firm Sandline. He previously held consulting positions with numerous providers in IT, e-discovery and investigations. His prior work experience includes advising clients on legal holds, IT resilience and investigations into corruption, fraud, asset misappropriation and antitrust violations.

“Clients in Germany are under pressure as regulators introduce new requirements and strengthen enforcement across corporate governance, data privacy, whistleblower response, supply chain diligence, antitrust, technology use and more,” said Fazzone.

“We are growing our team and capabilities to help clients respond to and proactively mitigate their risks in this environment. Dominic’s experience spans e-discovery, investigations and data privacy, so he’s uniquely suited to advise our clients across the spectrum of today’s critical issues.”
