Bain & Company has appointed Vikram Kapur, a 23-year veteran of the firm, to lead its global Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. Vikram most recently served as the head of the firm’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice in the APAC region.

“Vikram brings a valuable global perspective and deep commitment to innovation within the quickly evolving healthcare and life sciences market,” said Laura Miles, Bain’s Chief Client Officer and Global Head of Industries. “This, paired with his deep experience working across the healthcare value chain—including pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and payer and provider sectors, made him a clear choice for this role. I am confident Vikram will lead our teams and our clients to achieve extraordinary results during this period of inflection for the healthcare industry, particularly as new technologies, such as generative AI, continue to redefine what’s possible.”

Vikram’s two decades of management consulting and operating experience have been focused on delivering strategies for change-oriented business leaders across the Americas, Europe, and APAC. Over the course of his career, Vikram has spent time working in Bain's Singapore, Chicago, Dallas, Stockholm, New York, and Hong Kong offices. He has deep expertise in strategy development, operational improvement, acquisition due diligence, and complex cross-border M&A and integration efforts, and he is a notable thought leader in the industry.

While he is currently based in Singapore, Vikram will continue to drive results for his clients at the global level in his new role. He will also be responsible for global business and client development as well as managing the practice’s team of consultants, functional staff, and industry executive network.

Vikram succeeds Tim van Biesen, who will be stepping into a new role as Chairman of the Healthcare & Life Sciences practice after leading the practice for 15 years—first at the regional level in the Americas and then as its global head. Under his leadership, the practice has grown five-fold. In his new role, he will continue to remain fully committed to the business, supporting Vikram and his leadership team for its next chapter of growth.
