LOS ANGELES, May 29, 2024 -- Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the appointment of Los Angeles-based John A. Taylor as a Managing Director in its Disputes and Investigations practice. Mr. Taylor’s joining expands A&M’s West Coast footprint and deepens its disputes capabilities in alignment with DI’s talent growth strategy to help clients address current needs and anticipated challenges.

Leveraging more than 35 years of experience, Mr. Taylor specializes in business and litigation consulting, including damages analyses and appraisal standards and practice. He provides litigation support and expert witness services in matters related to fair value, minority-interest buyouts, bankruptcy proceedings, damages analysis, post-transaction disputes and royalty and intellectual property disputes. Mr. Taylor has worked with clients globally across numerous industries, including consumer products, energy, entertainment, financial services, gaming, healthcare, non-profits, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, private equity, professional services, real estate, retail, shipping and transportation, technology and telecommunications.

Mr. Taylor focuses on the valuation of business entities and their equity instruments, intellectual property and intangible assets, vacant and improved property, common and preferred stock of closely held businesses, business damages and lost profits analyses and strategic alternatives analyses. Additionally, he has significant experience reviewing appraisals relative to established professional standards and preparing fairness and solvency opinions.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Taylor spent more than 15 years with Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Advisory Services group in Los Angeles, most recently as a Managing Director, where he served as Global Practice Leader for Houlihan Lokey’s Dispute Resolution Consulting & Financial Expert Opinions practice and as a member of that firm’s Technical Standards Committee.

Mr. Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in German from University of Missouri – St. Louis. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers and has served as Chair and Past Chair of the American Society of Appraisers’ Appraisal Review & Management Committee. Mr. Taylor is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) with the Institute of Management Consultants, was elected as a Practicing Member to the Academy of Experts (MAE) and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a Chartered Business & Intangible Assets Valuation Surveyor.
