Global consulting firm AlixPartners has signalled its intent in the Middle East with a major team hire from a tier-one rival consultancy.
Recently recognised by Forbes as one of the globe’s leading management consulting firms, AlixPartners serves the Middle East through offices in Dubai and Riyadh. The firm has been active in the region for a dozen years.
Over the past weeks, the Dubai and Riyadh offices have welcomed a string new faces, following AlixPartners’ raid of Partners in Performance in the region. A 10-strong team of the Australian-origin consultancy have crossed to AlixPartners, strengthening several of the firm’s practice areas and industry verticals.
“The team hire is great news for AlixPartners but more importantly great news for our clients in the Middle East. Our new colleagues bring consulting expertise which reflects our own, industry expertise which further builds our sector presence, and deep experience of the vital Saudi market where we continue to make significant inroads,” said Rob Hornby, EMEA Head at AlixPartners.
Leading the new joiner class are Hassan Morsy and Bernhard Hartmann, who both were partner at Partners in Performance and have been appointed Partner & Managing Director.
A 13-year company member, Morsy was a senior partner at Partners in Performance. He is an expert in performance improvement, operations strategy, and financial enhancement. His clients include mining, utilities, energy, travel and tourism companies, as well as government agencies.
A 25-year consulting veteran, Hartmann has worked as a consultant across the globe in numerous emerging and high growth markets. An ex-partner at Oliver Wyman, Kearney and Innogy Consulting, he specialises in efficiency improvement and strategy implementation in the oil & gas and energy sectors.
Shane Malone and Erik Cunha, both latterly partners at Partners in Performance, have joined AlixPartners as a Partner and Director, respectively. Malone spent three years at the consultancy, previously serving ADNOC and Accenture, among others. Cunha spent twelve years at the firm, transitioning to the Middle East arm from South Africa in 2018. Both specialise in organisational development and performance improvement, with a focus on the oil & gas and energy sectors.
Others members of the team hire are: Arthur Ryabukhin (who also has former consulting experience at Boston Consulting Group and EY), Ilya Rebrin (ex-Deloitte), Ilies Kerbal (ex-Simon-Kucher), Victor Cuadros, Abdellah Safi, and Ibrahim Bakry.
