Professional services firm FTI Consulting has capitalised on a recent exodus of KPMG staff to bolster its Australian leadership stocks, with at least five former KPMG professionals crossing to the firm.

The past few weeks have seen a wealth of senior KPMG talent – particularly those in the areas of forensics and restructuring – exit the firm, with more than a dozen popping up in leadership roles at a number of other firms.

The restructuring and forensics revolving door is not especially uncommon, with experts and their colleagues commonly moving between a handful of specialist firms, but the recent outflux has been of particular note.

Professional services firm FTI Consulting has been one of the primary benefactors of the KPMG exodus, boosting its leadership ranks through the recruitment of managing director Antonetta Carroll, senior director Luke Parker, and directors Michael Petkovic and Uriel Koloditzky – the latter two who have a background dating back to Ferrier Hodgson, which was acquired by KPMG in 2019. John Dowel has also joined the firm as a managing director.

Antonetta Carroll joins FTI’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring team in Perth after spending the past 14 years at KPMG, latterly as a director. Prior to that she was an executive with KordaMentha.

John Dowell has been recruited to FTI’s Economic & Financial Consulting division in Brisbane from local accounting and advisory firm HMW, before which he spent close to six years at Grant Thornton.

Luke Parker has spent the past seven years at KPMG upon graduating Curtin University in 2015, and now becomes a senior director within FTI’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring team in Perth.

Michael Petkovic joins FTI Consulting as a Forensics Technology director in Sydney, after spending more than a decade between Ferrier Hodgson and KPMG, the latter where he rose to associate director.

Uriel Koloditzky is now a Forensic & Litigation consulting director after two years with KPMG in Melbourne, having also served as a graduate accountant and intern at Ferrier, Korda and Protiviti.

To name but a few, the latter pair share a Ferrier background with a number of other recent leadership recruits, including senior Managing Directors Michael Khoury, Paul Harlond, Chris Hill, John Batchelor, and Wynand Mullins.
