Eight leaders from FTI Consulting’s Australian practice have featured on Who’s Who Legal’s latest global guide to the world’s leading economic, transactional and forensic & litigation consultants.
Professional services firm FTI Consulting has once again topped the list for the number of its professionals featured in the latest Who’s Who Legal consulting experts guide to the world’s leading practitioners in the field of economic, transactional and forensic & litigation services.
Altogether, FTI Consulting had 150 of its experts recognised worldwide, including eight in Australia, where the firm has recently been involved in a number of high-profile administration cases.
Three of the firm’s experts were listed in the Construction – Quantum Delay & Technical category; Perth-based senior director Stuart Downes, who has been with FTI Consulting for most of the past decade; managing director Jon Dyson of FTI’s Melbourne office; and, backing up from last year’s list, senior managing director Stephen Rae, a three-decade industry veteran who heads up FTI’s Australian construction solutions practice out of Perth.
The head of FTI’s local forensic & litigation consulting practice, Dawna Wright, has become a familiar sight on the list, having last year been awarded as Who’s Who Legal’s ‘Investigations Forensic Accountant of the Year’ ahead of a field of international peers. The senior managing director and former Deloitte and McGrathNicol partner was this year listed in two categories; as both a forensic accounting and Financial Advisory and Valuation – Quantum of Damages expert.
Also named in the Forensic Accountants category are Melbourne-based duo Geoffrey Peck and John Batchelor, the latter who returns to the list, while Wynand Mullins of FTI’s Sydney office also returns as a ‘Future Leader’ for those under 45, after having joined the firm from McGrathNicol’s partnership in 2021. Peck meanwhile joined FTI after more than a decade between PwC and Deloitte, while Batchelor previously co-led FTI’s Asia division before returning downunder in 2021.
Rounding out the FTI experts featured in this year’s Who’s Who Legal consulting guide is managing director Christopher Hatfield, who was listed in both the Digital & Data – ‘Data and E-Discovery’ and Digital & Data – ‘Digital Forensics’ categories. Hatfield joined FTI Consulting from Alvarez & Marsal in London in 2015, before four years later crossing with the firm to Sydney, where he had previously spent three years as an IT forensics director with PPB Advisory.
FTI Consulting has been involved in a number of high-profile administrations in recent months, including the collapse of Lanskey Constructions and the current sale of massive solar project Sun Cable following a reported business dispute between billionaire Australian backers Andrew Forrest and Mike Cannon-Brookes – with PwC among creditors.
FTI was also recently successful in selling a number of outlets previously belonging to WA institution Grand Cinemas, with Hoyts the buyer.
