Deloitte’s strategy consulting wing, Monitor Deloitte, has beefed up its ranks with the addition of the team from Glass, a Brisbane-based consultancy firm with around 50 staff.

Established in 2017, Glass supports clients across the public, aged care, retail, utilities, education, and financial services sectors with strategy, innovation, and data and technology services.

Ellen Derrick, Managing Partner of Deloitte Consulting, said that Glass’ offerings closely align with the firm’s core focus. “Innovation and venture growth are key issues for so many of our clients. And driving business strategy and positive change through opportunities via data and technology solutions is a for our consulting business.”

Kellie Nuttall, Deloitte Consulting’s Lead Partner for Strategy & Business Design, added: “Digital transformation driven by innovation is so important for organisations wanting to adapt to changing market conditions, meet customer expectations, succeed and grow. But getting innovation right – from clear strategy development to purposeful execution – is also challenging.”

“Like Deloitte, the Glass team is highly credentialled in working with clients to implement high value, end-to-end tech-enabled digital transformation, and the integrated delivery of growth, innovation and digital ventures. The arrival of their team will deepen our client offerings across creative design, accelerated insights, ecosystem and technology alliance partner activation.”

New partners

As part of the deal, Glass Co-founders Erin McCarthy and Wayne Custodio will become partners at Deloitte Consulting. “After great consideration, we have decided that the very best future of Glass is joining forces with Monitor Deloitte,” said McCarthy.

“In Deloitte, we’ve connected with like minds and motives. The firm has such a strong market presence in Queensland, Australia and globally, and we’re excited to be part of a bigger picture in terms of opportunity for our clients and our people.”

Custodio added: “Deloitte’s vison and mission really resonate with us. The culture and values are so closely aligned to ours that it makes this an incredibly exciting move. It’s a logical next step, and a case of the right time and the right place.”

The Glass team will formally join Monitor Deloitte on 1 March 2023. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The deal is Deloitte’s first in ANZ since the trio of acquisitions closed between August and October last year. Monitor Deloitte’s latest deal goes back to the summer of 2021, when innovation, strategy and new ventures player Fusion Labs was picked up (which was Monitor Deloitte’s first deal in Australia since its inception eleven years ago).
