Global management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has appointed two new partners in Australia.
The duo appointment sees company veteran Douglas Carlucci – who has been with the firm for three decades – installed as the leader of Oliver Wyman’s Transportation & Services practice in the Asia Pacific region.
Previously based in Oliver Wyman’s San Francisco office, Carlucci has now relocated to Sydney, where he leads a regional ream of consultants that advise clients across the travel (airlines, airports), transportation, and logistics industries, as well as governments and financiers to the sectors.
The Transportation & Services practice provides a range of strategy and management consulting services, and also includes capabilities such as technical consulting on safety and compliance and operations maintenance (delivered by subsidiary Cavok), strategies and modeling for market share, network, and fleet planning (delivered by the Network Simulation Center), and analytical data tools (provided by PlaneStats.com).
“Transportation and Services is a global business and Asia Pacific is a dynamic part of the world with tremendous growth potential. My job is to bring the best of Oliver Wyman’s global network to Australia and the region to help our clients solve their most pressing problem,” said Carlucci.
Last year, Oliver Wyman was named one of the leading aviation consulting firms in the world by Consultancy.org, and also in Australia the firm has firmly nestled itself among the leading players in the segment. The practice among others work for many of the larger airlines, including a current engagement at Southwest Airlines, while in the region, the unit among others helped Air New Zealand slash its operating costs in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The depth of our practice across strategy, revenue generation, and operations is being well-received in the marketplace as our clients continue their transformation journeys,” Carlucci added.
Joining Carlucci in the Sydney office is Andreas Hilz, who has more than two decades of experience in strategy consulting, having most recently worked as the acting Head of Strategy at Virgin Australia.
Prior to this, he ran his own aviation and transport consultancy and was an external advisor to Bain & Company on aviation matters. Earlier, he spent nine years at Strategy&(and predecessor Booz & Company), latterly leading the firm’s aviation practice for Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia.
During his career, Hilz has delivered projects in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
“Andreas and Doug are highly talented, trusted advisors and deep specialists who are dedicated to the success of our clients and our people,” said Ed Emanuel, Market Leader of Oliver Wyman in Australia and New Zealand. “Our new partners signify strong demand in the transportation and services space and will further strengthen our capabilities across Asia Pacific.”
