FTI Consulting has relocated UAE-based managing director Tom O'Brien to the firm’s Riyadh office, handing him the remit to build out the construction dispute resolution team in Saudi Arabia.

Bringing 35 years of experience in construction claims, project management and project controls to the role, Tom O'Brien will help FTI Consulting’s team in the Kingdom meet growing demand for dispute resolution expertise at a time of massive investments in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Fuelled by Vision 2030, the number of new cities and related infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia is seeing a dazzling amount of money pumped into construction works. In its slipstream, the number of delays and disputes are on the rise – this is where FTI Consulting’s construction-focused disputes offering comes in.

When issues arise, projects cost more, take longer to complete, or do not produce the intended level of benefits, project owners turn to independent consultants for resolution support. FTI Consulting’s award-winning disputes team provides project advisory, construction claims analysis and expert witness services to some of the most high-profile projects in the region, including in Saudi Arabia.

O’Brien has direct experience in all phases of engineering, procurement and construction work from design through to execution and close out. He is an expert in schedule/cost forensic analysis, risk analysis, claim mitigation and project controls. O’Brien has experience writing and auditing project execution plans and procedures. He often uses his expertise in depositions and court testimony.

His career track record spans a range of sectors, such as power, oil & gas infrastructure, chemicals, and commercial construction.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2019 in its Dubai office, he spent over a decade at engineering company Arcadis, and project management specialists Faithful+Gould and Turner & Townsend.
