Global IT services company Infosys has beefed up its consulting arm in Europe with the acquisition of Base Life Science, a Danish-origin firm with around 200 consultants in seven countries.
The deal is the second for Infosys this year in Europe, coming shortly after the bolt-on of Germany-based digital marketing, experience, and commerce agency Oddity.
The addition of Base Life Science sees a 200-strong team in Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain cross to Infosys and become part of its Consulting division and Life Sciences industry vertical.
Founded in 2007, Base Life Science specialises in several domains within life sciences, including commercial, medical, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and health & quality, and works for clients in consumer health, animal health, medtech and genomics. The firm provides management consulting offerings and a range of technology services, and is particularly known for its expertise in applying data science for achieving better health outcomes.
Copenhagen-headquartered Base Life Science collaborates with leading software technology providers in the life sciences industry such as Veeva, IQVIA and Salesforce.
“This acquisition augments Infosys’ deep life sciences expertise, and expands our footprint further in the Nordics region and across Europe, and scales our digital transformation capabilities with cloud-based industry solutions. We are excited to welcome Base Life Science and its leadership team into the Infosys family,” said Ravi Kumar S, President of Infosys.
Earlier in Europe, Infosys acquired Czech advisory firm GuideVision (2020) and Finnish Salesforce partner Fluido Oy (2018). Outside of Europe, the IT services giant (275,000 employees globally) has closed a string of deals over the past years.
Meanwhile, for Base Life Science, the joining of forces will enable the firm to “continue its growth trajectory through further international expansion” and “provide enriching career opportunities” for the company’s talent, according to CEO Martin Woergaard.
In related life sciences focused consulting deals, Oliver Wyman last year acquired the Huron’s life sciences strategy consulting arm in the United States, and also in 2021, Deloitte purchased the life sciences consulting practice of Iperion in the Netherlands.
