Accenture has agreed to acquire XtremeEDA, an Ottawa-based silicon design services firm.
Founded in 2002, XtremeEDA delivers semiconductor engineering services to clients seeking custom silicon solutions for consumer devices, cloud data centers, machine learning, and AI computational platforms. The firm’s approximately 40 engineers and practitioners have deep expertise in digital design verification, processor and system integration, and hardware security.
XtremeEDA works with North American companies across software and platform, telecom, consumer products, avionics, and defense.
Accenture’s acquisition of XtremeEDA will strengthen the edge computing capabilities of its cloud division. The deal will also improve Accenture’s ability to help clients optimize the management and usage of physical assets near the user and create interactive experiences, the Dublin-headquartered firm said.

The deal is Accenture Canada’s fifth since 2020. The firm last year acquired Gevity, a healthcare sector consulting firm, and Cloudworks, an Oracle Cloud implementation specialist. In 2020, Accenture bought Avenai, a consulting firm focusing on federal clients, and Callisto Integration, a digital manufacturing specialist.
