US-headquartered tech consultancy MTX has announced an expansion of its service portfolio and traineeship program across Australia – only nine months after first landing in Adelaide.

Less than a year after its push into the Asia Pacific – via the launch of an Adelaide services hub – and global tech consultancy MTX Group is already gaining ground, growing its headcount by more than 75 new professionals nationally in the past nine months and landing several major clients across the government and private sectors.

And the company intends to continue with that momentum, said MTX AN/Z CEO and former Boston Consulting Group management consultant Ben Papps.

MTX now has a presence in every Australian state and territory capital, along with New Zealand and the Gold Coast, with scores of jobs created in the areas of data & analytics, digital platforms, change management and managed services – a process it will further expand across Australia through its skills training and re-skilling program already underway in Adelaide, one which it says has already achieved much success.

According to the firm, its initial career-shift trainee program in Adelaide – which has fast become a major tech talent pipeline – has so far included a former chef, a research scientist, a marketing assistant and others now developing a career pathway in tech, with MTX noting the Tech Council of Australia’s assessment that re-skilling will be a major contributor to industry goals to support more than one million tech jobs by 2025.

“We’re highly conscious of the industry-wide impact of skills shortages and proud to be taking a proactive and practical role to address the challenge,” said Papps of the company’s active recruitment efforts. “New job creation is a key part of our strategy to expand the impact of tech in the community while supporting our scale and growth across the country.”

MTX also said it will build out its offering in new vertical business segments to support “companies frustrated by the complexity and unrealised ambition of existing technology investments” via a “flexible, outcomes-focussed delivery and service” approach, backed by its partnerships with among others Salesforce, AWS, Google Cloud, and Mulesoft and its existing presence and track record in North America and India.

“Businesses know digital platforms and effective data use can help address key challenges like sustainability, employee well-being and better customer experience, but too often they’re held back by underutilised or poor-fitting infrastructure or just not knowing where to start,” said Papps. “Our job is to lead our clients on a journey with technology that evolves with their business needs and continues to deliver positive outcomes over time.”
