Global operations and supply chain consulting firm Argon & Co has launched a new office in Riyadh, its second in the Middle East.

Argon & Co has been active in the Middle East for close to a decade from its office in Abu Dhabi, which the consultancy inherited from its 2018 acquisition of Crimson & Co. In 2020, the Crimson & Co brand was dropped.

“We’ve over the years successfully delivered advisory and transformative projects for many Middle East based clients,” said Mike Mitchell, Regional Director Middle East at Argon & Co.

Facing growing interest in its services from Saudi-based companies, expanding into Saudi Arabia was a logical next step for the firm’s ambitions in the region, said Mitchell. “The addition of the Riyadh office increases our local reach in a large market and enables us to provide the full spectrum of operations consulting services to our clients in the Kingdom.”

Yvan Salamon, the Paris-based CEO of Argon & Co added, “Argon & Co is strengthening its positioning in the important Middle Eastern market. This latest move fits in well with our stated aims to grow our global footprint and to provide on the ground capability from local consultants to support clients wherever needed.”

The move comes shortly after Argon & Co acquired a boutique supply chain consultancy in Australia (in 2021 the firm closed two deals) and expanded its presence in China with the addition of the Chinese team of R&G Global Consultants (last year Argon & Co already purchased the European offices of R&G Global Consultants).

To lead the new venture, Argon & Co has appointed veteran consultant Mark Godson. He has been with the firm for close to a year, and now relocates from the UAE to Saudi Arabia. Earlier, he was a Vice President at Efeso Consulting, a partner at KPMG in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, and Managing Partner Asia Pacific at Atos Consulting, among others.

Commenting on the ambitions in Saudi Arabia, Godson said, “I am delighted to head up the new Riyadh office. We aim to directly align with the Saudi 2030 vision and support our Saudi clients to embrace the opportunities and overcome the challenges it presents. The Kingdom is going through a major transformation and Argon & Co are proud to be a part of it.”

Earlier this year, fellow consultancies Ankura, Tracey Brunstrom and Hammond and ByrneLooby picked Riyadh as the entry point for their on the ground expansion into the Saudi market.
