Boston Consulting Group’s new, state-of-the-art Canadian headquarters in downtown Toronto aims to lure back office workers with a mix of stylishness, functionality, and perks.
Designed by architecture firm HOK, BCG’s 81 Bay St. office attempts to meet the needs and wants of workers emerging from a pandemic.
“BCG helped us learn and grow and push our boundaries in terms of transformational workplace design,' Caitlin Turner, director of interiors for HOK in Canada, told design publication Wallpaper. “This was an opportunity to demonstrate that the office wasn’t dead.”
BCG’s 400-strong Toronto team now has a home base with an emphasis on flexibility – including convertible private offices, open offices, case team rooms, and multiple cafes across three sun-drenched levels. The office’s rooms have also been designed to encourage movement, and workers can play a game of foosball or Pacman in the lounge.
The project has earned a WELL Health-Safety rating and is on track to gain a LEED Platinum Core & Shell certification and a WELL Platinum certification.
BCG opened its first Canadian office in Toronto in 1993 as part of its acquisition of Canada Consulting Group. The consultancy’s Canadian clients account for almost half the value of the Toronto Stock Exchange.
BCG also has Canadian locations in Montreal and Calgary.
