Global strategy and management consulting firm McKinsey & Company has appointed a new country leader for its French organisation: Clarisse Magnin.
A two-decade company member, Clarisse Magnin joined McKinsey & Company in the US at the turn of the century, working from the firm’s Boston, New Jersey, and New York offices before she relocated back to France, where she was raised and completed her education.
Appointed a partner in 2010 and senior partner in 2016, Magnin has over the past years held a number of leadership roles, including being a member of McKinsey’s partnership service team – the firm’s equivalent of an executive committee – in which she oversaw client services and served as an action officer to the client committee from the Shareholders Council.
Clarisse Magnin, Managing Partner McKinsey FranceMagnin works with consumer-goods, retail, food-service, and luxury-goods companies on topics including international expansion, external growth, digitisation of business and operating models, marketing and commercial excellence, and operations. She specialises in the agricultural sector – in France, she launched and leads the Agriculture practice.
Following the promotion of Homayoun Hatami to Global Leader of McKinsey’s Capabilities practices, Clarisse Magnin has now been named as his successor. She was selected following an extensive selection process, which saw McKinsey’s senior global partners conduct interviews with more than a dozen candidates vying for the top French job.
In the role of Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company France, she leads one of the firm’s oldest European offices (founded in 1964) and largest teams on the continent (after the UK and Germany). McKinsey in France is led by around 70 partners (up from around 40 partners when Hatami took the reins four years ago), who oversee teams operating from offices in Paris and Lyon.
Commenting on passing on the baton to Magnin (a HEC Paris graduate), Hatami remarked: “I am delighted that Clarisse will serve as McKinsey & Company’s next Managing Partner for France. She is a great leader and I am convinced that she will provide excellent guidance to our clients and care for our people.”
“I am honoured to take over from Homayoun and aim to extend the impetus he has given to the firm. I look forward to working with our partnership and diverse teams to help our clients grow, and embrace the three major transitions in the coming decade: the environment, technology and human capital,” said Magnin.
Magnin will remain the firm’s Global Leader for the Global Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail practices, and Leader of the Agriculture and Private Equity practices in France.
In related news, McKinsey last week named Rajat Dhawan as the new Managing Partner for India. He succeeded Gautam Kumra, who in turn was elevated to Chairman for Asia.
Globally, McKinsey is a 30,000-strong company – considered by many as the globe’s most prestigious consulting firm – led by the recently installed American Bob Sternfels. In Europe, the consultancy is led by Magnus Tyreman.
