Sydney-based SAP specialist FAIR Consulting has picked up fellow specialist Brightwater Technology, and recruited former SAP veteran Pete Andrew as its new A/NZ managing director.

Andrew has spent the past two decades at the German-origin ERP giant after joining from PA Consulting in 2005, including four and a half years as A/NZ chief operating officer and most recently as head of industries.

Andrew will lead a team which now includes Brightwater Technology, which was established in Sydney in 2015 by former UXC Oxygen (now DXC Technology) leaders and focuses on project management and SAP Basis and Netweaver services.

FAIR Consulting buys Brightwater and appoints SAP veteran

“The acquisition of Brightwater and Pete’s appointment mark important milestones for our company,” said FAIR founder Mehrab Ebadi. “There is a clear demand for local boutique partners who can offer tailored engagements and deliver big, complex transformations. Partnering with us means trust, quality and support for the local Australian economy and young professionals.”

Ebadi set up the firm close to twelve years ago, having earlier spent time at Capgemini in Sweden and management consultancy Lodestone locally prior to its acquisition by Infosys in 2012. Having since spent time juggling managing director duties with travel and volunteering abroad, Ebadi now hands over to Andrew, but will continue on at FAIR as Chief Coffee & Tea Brewer.

Andrew takes over a full-service consulting business that has grown to include further outlets in Adelaide, Melbourne and Karachi, with a combined headcount pushing toward the 100-mark. An MBA-holder from Cambridge, Andrew brings serious credentials, having also served as SAP’s general manager for New South Wales in addition to A/NZ COO and regional industries lead.

“The opportunity for FAIR Consulting in the ANZ market is unlimited,” Andrew said of his decision to join. “The alignment of the company’s values with my own – honesty, integrity and leading by example – is very important to me. A consulting partner that truly values its people and customers is going to be very successful, and trust in our customer engagements is critical for long-term success.”

Meanwhile, FAIR Consulting said that Brightwater would enhance its SAP S/4HANA and application managed support (AMS) capabilities, while more broadly noting that the spate of local SAP acquisitions among big players in recent times – such as Capgemini’s purchase of Acclimation and Accenture’s Bourne Digital bolt-on last year – had created a gap in the market for boutique providers.
