Kearney has promoted a Middle East partner – Alessandro Massa – to global leader of its Public Sector practice.
Operating out of the UAE, Alessandro Massa now leads Kearney’s public sector teams in over 50 countries. The firm is renowned as one of the leading consultancies in the public landscape.
Massa has more than 20 years of consulting and industry experience, helping both public and private sector organizations manage a broad range of strategic transformations. He specializes in helping Middle East government bodies on economic development and human capital strategies to deliver on ambitious national visions.
As part of its Vision 2030, Massa has helped the Saudi government define the nation’s human capital development strategy. He has also advised several institutions on growth, transformation, efficiency, and making a positive impact on people’s lives and society as a whole.
In the education landscape, Massa has helped GCC governments deliver initiatives to improve the quality of education and training to modernize curricula and leverage technology. He has further led several programs to create employment opportunities for national and foreign citizens as part of government efforts to reform the labor market.
Massa has been with Kearney since 2011, but previously also served the strategy and management consulting firm at the start of his career, after graduating from a top university in Italy. In between, he worked for Boston Consulting Group and PwC, among others.
On his new role, Massa said he was proud to lead the practice, and emphasized the heightened importance governments play in the region.
“In the Middle East, governments are the main engine behind economic and social development; they somehow play the role of the financial sector in developed economies.”
Describing his approach to strategic change as one characterized by an “all-in” philosophy, Massa said that he his new remit is strongly aligned with his passion. “The focus of our clients in the public sector is on creating growth opportunities for future generations. There’s a relevant social aspect to what I do, and I love that.”
For Kearney’s team in the Middle East, the appointment recognizes the growing importance it is playing within the firm’s global network. Earlier this year, the firm elected Middle East leader Bob Willen as its global managing partner, who shrugged off stiff competition from US and Europe based heavyweight senior partners.
