Sopra Steria, a Paris-headquartered IT consulting firm, has expanded into Canada with the establishment of its aeroline practice in Montreal and Toronto.
The French firm’s expansion into Canada follows the awarding of a significant, multi-year contract with aircraft manufacturer Airbus in January. As part of the contract, Sopra Steria will help Airbus modernize its engineering methods and tools across all areas (airframe, flight physics, engines, systems, and flight and propulsion testing) across operations in France, Spain, Germany, Poland, India, the US, and Canada.
The IT consultancy will focus on helping Airbus roll out a new flight management system (avionics) to develop better flight control data, as well as streamline product lifecycle management processes to improve energy efficiency and production.

Sopra Steria says it has over 180 experts focusing on the North America aerospace industry. The firm’s subsidiary, CS Group, provides specialized services for critical systems management and has offices in Ville St-Laurent, Quebec and East Hartford, Connecticut.
Sopra Steria in a press release said that it plans to have a 500-person workforce in Canada within five years.
