Kroll has bolstered its practice in the Netherlands with the addition of BFI, a consultancy specialised in economic valuation services.
With the bolt-on of BFI’s circa 20-strong team, Kroll’s team in the Netherlands grows to 40 staff. The added team members become part of the Valuation Advisory Services practice, which helps clients with conducting valuations for topics such as transactions, restructuring, bankruptcies, financial investigations, and disputes.
“With the acquisition of BFI, Kroll is gaining a wealth of expertise, technical skills, unparalleled local market knowledge and relationships that will further cement our position in the local market and enhance our wider EMEA valuation practice,” said Michael Weaver, Managing Director and Head of International Valuation Advisory Services at Kroll.
BFI was founded in 2016 by the duo Jan Adriaanse and Marc Broekema. In 2021, Alexander Bregonje joined the firm’s senior leadership team. The latter two will now jointly co-lead Kroll’s Valuation Advisory Services team in the Netherlands and report to Weaver.
Commenting on the decision to join Kroll, a global consulting firm with more than 6,500 professionals worldwide, Bregonje said: “Kroll has a strong reputation as the leading global independent valuation provider. The team and I are looking forward to partnering with our global Kroll colleagues to further enhance how we support our clients in the Netherlands.”
Broekema added: “We are excited to be joining forces with Kroll, a trusted advisor to the leading law firms on complex and sensitive dispute, litigation and restructuring valuation cases. I am confident that our clients will benefit from our joint service offering.”
Offerings the Valuation Advisory Services practice provides include quantum of economic damages, disputes, bankruptcy/distressed-related financial analyses, business failure drift analyses, and independent business reviews. The practice was previously part of Duff & Phelps, which in 2021 adopted the Kroll brand.
In 2022, Kroll completed bolt-on acquisitions of companies in the United States and Canada. In April this year, the firm also launched a new office in South Africa.
