Roland Berger has shored up its Aviation practice in the Middle East with new principal Usman Tahir.

Usman Tahir brings more than 15 years of experience in management consulting and project management across the Middle East and South Asia to the strategy firm. He specialises in strategy design, business planning, process efficiency, and operating model optimization.

His appointment comes hot on the heels of the arrival of Sheila Nazareth, a partner who has been tasked with launching and expanding Roland Berger’s aviation team in the Middle East.

“Having Usman on board as we launch our Aviation practice is invaluable,” said Nazareth. “His extensive experience and strategic acumen in the field make him an essential part of our vision to make Roland Berger’s Aviation practice the go-to source for premium consulting in the aviation industry, providing forward-thinking strategies, fostering digital transformation, and promoting green practices.”

Usman most recently was an associate director in the Strategy group of KPMG, where he worked on multiple strategic and operational engagements. Earlier, he also served fellow Big Four firm PwC.

In between, Usman spent more than eight years at Emirates, where he spearheaded cost transformation projects, collaborating across several divisions including airline MRO, ground handling services, network operations, and airport operations. Usman worked in line management roles as well as in an internal consulting capacity.

“Usman has effectively spearheaded intricate projects in the aviation industry,” stated Hani Tohme, the Managing Partner of Roland Berger in Dubai. “His inclusion in our team exemplifies our commitment to cultivating innovation, driving growth, and triggering transformation in the Middle East’s aviation landscape.”

Commenting on his new challenge, Usman said: “I am thrilled to join the team at Roland Berger, a firm that aligns with my dedication to strategic innovation, particularly in the exciting and ever-evolving field of aviation. Embracing change and optimising processes are not just about improving the bottom line, but about setting the stage for innovation and future growth. The aviation industry is an exciting field where the potential for transformation is immense.”

In the Middle East, Roland Berger has around 20 partners and 300 employees working from five offices: Dubai, Doha, Beirut, Manama and Riyadh.
