UK-based supply chain and logistics consultancy SCALA has expanded its footprint to the US. The firm has appointed industry veteran Wolf Liebchen to lead the new venture.

Founded in 2001, SCALA helps companies across sectors with services including supply chain strategy, procurement, logistics optimisation, warehouse design, and transport. From its early beginnings in Huddersfield, SCALA has since grown into an international player, delivering projects across the UK, Europe, Asia – and now also the world's largest consulting market, or the US.

“Expanding the supply chain to include the US market can be daunting for UK and European businesses for various reasons. With many businesses coming to us with US consultancy needs, solidifying a presence in the US market is therefore a logical next step for us,” said John Perry, managing director at SCALA.

From its fresh base in California, SCALA will help European based clients with their needs and project management in the US. In the opposite direction, the US wing will also help local clients with their expansion across the Atlantic.

The California base complements existing offices in the UK, and Dublin, Dusseldorf, and Shanghai.

Leading the US market entry is Wolf Liebchen, who has 30+ years of experience across supply chains, 3rd party logistics, RFQ management, process consulting, and project management.

Liebchen previously held roles at Minolta and DHL, amongst others, and has since gone on to provide supply chain and logistics consultancy across a wide range of sectors in the US. He has provided support on projects including supply chain outsourcing, RFQ design and project management, process enhancement, supply chain efficiency projects, sustainability, and more.

“With his impressive career achievements, Wolf offers us a great opportunity to enhance our international service offering,” added Perry.

Liebchen said of his new role, “I knew from the first call with the SCALA team that we had the same goals and customer centric approach when it came to the industry. I look forward to guiding and supporting the firm’s clients.”

The expansion news comes shortly after SCALA was named one of the UK’s top supply chain consulting firms for 2023 by industry publication Consultancy.org.
