The Cabinet Office has signed a three-year contract worth £11.7m with Capgemini. The engagement will see the IT services heavyweight become the technical delivery partner to the UK Government department as it switches from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. The award is the latest success for Capgemini with the Cabinet Office to which it has been a supplier for over a decade.
The project is a part of a wider transformation programme to consolidate the existing Cabinet Office IT platform and Government Digital Service IT platform into a new IT system. The initiative will involve the transfer around 15,000 users, including ministers, onto the new personal productivity software. All of the Cabinet Office's existing data and information will also be migrated across to the Microsoft platform. The new system will adhere to the National Cyber Security Centre's (NCSC) and Government Security Group's (GSG) guidelines.
Capgemini’s position in the UK Public Sector market continues to strengthen. Revenue generated by the company in this vertical increased by some 35% last year (see here). The deal at the Cabinet Office comes hot on the heels of a three-year £74m contract win to provide application development services to DEFRA announced last month.
