FTI Consulting has expanded its partnership with Relativity in Australia to include RelativityOne, the company’s cloud-based all-in-one e-discovery platform.

One of Relativity’s leading partners worldwide, FTI Consulting has over the past years integrated RelativityOne into its offerings across major offices in North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with Australia now the next in line.

The Relativity suite helps companies (main users: legal, compliance and forensic data teams) manage their e-discovery process – a form of digital investigation into potential illicit activity such as fraud, financial crime, or embezzlement.

RelativityOne helps organisations investigate and manage large volumes of data during litigation, internal investigations, and compliance operations, with the full process supported in the cloud, providing users the benefits of security, cost and scalability. RelativityOne is currently available in 17 countries.

“The expansion of our RelativityOne offerings to Australia strengthens our ability to help legal teams in the region manage data challenges and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing clients with a robust scope of solutions,” said Daryl Teshima, a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting.

Georgia Foster, Senior Managing Director of APAC at Relativity, added: “FTI Consulting was faced with the demand from Australian customers in need of support managing the explosive growth of data. With RelativityOne, FTI Consulting will be able to further leverage its e-discovery expertise to enhance results for clients.”

Scott Gillard, a Managing Director within FTI Consulting in Brisbane, said that the Australian team will be able to leverage the firm’s global leadership in the e-discovery consulting and services domain. “Our global footprint with RelativityOne is one of the largest, providing our clients with consistency and flexibility, which are critical in reducing friction in high-stakes and cross-border matters.”

The partnership upgrade between the two companies comes at a timely moment. According to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the number of corporate misconducts nationally is hovering around a five-year high, however, the watchdog has received widespread criticism for only investigating a tiny portion of these cases (<2%).

Other consultancies that sit in the same RelativityOne partnership band as FTI Consulting include Berkeley Research Group, KordaMentha, and PwC. Rivals such as Ankura, Alvarez & Marsal, Grant Thornton, and Kroll are all in lower partner levels.
