Global consultancy Kroll has strengthened its team in the Middle East with Dominic Ayliffe, who makes his return to the region’s restructuring consulting scene.
Appointed an Associate Managing Director in the Restructuring Advisory practice of Kroll, Ayliffe supports clients with advisory services around financial distress situations, including debt and financial restructuring, crisis management, and insolvency.
Ayliffe brings over 12 years of experience in the domain to Kroll, and joins the consultancy from Standard Chartered Bank, where he was one of the more senior members of the Middle East team in charge of a portfolio of over $2 billion.
At Standard Chartered Bank, Ayliffe worked with various types of corporates across a wide range of industries, including energy, infrastructure, construction, retail and trading. Most recently, he led one of the international-creditor syndicates through a successful debt restructuring for a major UAE real estate developer.
Ayliffe recently also worked with family owners of a troubled steel business on improving working capital and performance improvement, and helped another family-owned group with roping in financing on the international market.
During his six years at the bank, Ayliffe played a central role in the establishment of Standard Chartered Bank’s first financial advisor panel for stressed asset services.
Earlier, he worked for PwC’s Restructuring and Refinancing team in the Middle East and the United Kingdom, where he delivered numerous restructuring engagements – including insolvencies, independent business reviews – supporting lenders, borrowers, shareholders and government bodies on turnaround transactions.
Notably, Ayliffe was part of the team that worked on the Lehman Brothers administration, which to date still is the world’s largest ever bankruptcy. PwC was appointed administrator by UK-based creditors.
Dominic Ayliffe is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of York, and a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from SOAS University of London.
