Bain & Company has admitted Andrew Honigman into its Australian partnership, while James Cheng, Sean Purdon and Tim Lindner have been promoted to associate partner.
As part of its year-start promotion round, the global strategy consulting firm elevated Andrew Honigman to its partnership in Melbourne, with office colleagues James Cheng and Sean Purdon promoted to associate partner level alongside Sydney-based company member Tim Lindner.
Andrew Honigman has been with Bain for almost spot-on a decade, joining the management consultancy from Freehills in February of 2013 shortly after its merger with Herbert Smith.
A competition law solicitor while at Freehills, Honigman has since developed significant expertise in the financial services sector, in particular as to wealth & asset management and insurance – serving clients in the areas of strategy, customer, operating model, and performance improvement.
Following in Honigman’s vocational footsteps, James Cheng joined Bain & Company at the beginning of 2014 on the back of a commerce and law double at Monash, and also spent a short time as a vacation clerk at Freehills, along with intern/clerk stints at Goldman Sachs, Minter Ellison, and Ashurst.
He has since completed his MBA from INSEAD, and during his time at Bain & Company has worked across a variety of sectors, including financial services, private equity, and consumer products and retail.
Sean Purdon has been with Bain since mid-2015, including a year spent in the consulting firm’s San Francisco office. He previously spent a year as a research projects officer with the CSIRO, and joined Bain following a period working on original iOS app development.
At the global consultancy, Purdon supports clients with commercial due diligence and portfolio company value creation, with a primary focus on financial services and technology.
A member of the firm’s Financial Services and IT practices out of Sydney, Tim Lindner advises clients on business and operations strategy, large-scale IT and agile transformations, and multi program management among other areas. Lindner has been with Bain for the past five and a half years, before which he spent five years as a tech strategy consultant with Accenture Strategy. A German speaker, he studied physics at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Meanwhile, senior partner Andrew Tymms has departed his role as Bain’s Private Equity practice co-leader for the Asia Pacific, but will continue on as a part-time senior advisor with the consultancy in Melbourne. His Asia Pacific wide role has been taken up by Tokyo-based partner Sebastien Lamy.
