Xynteo, a consulting firm that offers services related to energy transition, sustainability and ESG topics, has roped in a major investment from Leon Capital.
The investment, of an unspecified amount, will be used by Xynteo to advance its stated goal of helping companies grow in a sustainable way.
Xynteo provides sustainability consulting services to companies looking to solve societal and environmental issues. The firm is headquartered in Norway and has further offices in the UK and India. Top clients of Xynteo include companies like Visa, Horizon, Shell, and Unilever.
“This partnership brings renewed impetus and ambition to Xynteo. We are incredibly excited to work with the Leon Capital team, who bring deep operational capabilities and resources, and an extensive network of industry relationships,” said Jonah Grunsell, Managing Partner at Xynteo.
Included in the arrangement is the creation of an employee partnership model, with senior employees of Xynteo now becoming part owners in the business. The family of the founder Osvald Bjelland remains a minority shareholder in the company.
“We are proud to invest in Xynteo and its mission to help the world’s leading organisations succeed through planet-positive and people-inclusive growth,” said Leon Capital Co-founder and Managing Partner Christos Lavidas. “Our strategy at Leon Capital centers around partnering with exceptional services businesses, where we see a clear active ownership plan to create sustainable impact for all stakeholders. That’s exactly what we found in Xynteo.”
Former DNV CEO Henrik Madsen will continue to serve as Xynteo’s chairman, while Thorhild Widvey, who was formerly Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy as well as Minister of Culture, will continue to serve on the board of directors.
The transaction was backed by private equity fund Yana Investment as well as several other Leon Capital partners and family funds.
