Global strategy and management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has launched a new office in Bahrain, its sixth in the Middle East.

At the launch event celebrating the milestone, Oliver Wyman leaders said that the new office in Manama is emblematic of the firm’s continued push to better serve its clients by establishing a physical presence close to their headquarter operations.

Oliver Wyman has been working with organisations in Bahrain for more than two decades across multiple industries, including the public sector, financial services, fiscal, oil & gas, health, technology, transportation, and tourism. The firm is renowned for providing strategic counsel and support with wide-ranging transformations.

“Oliver Wyman has served public and private sector clients in Bahrain for more than 20 years, and this new office opening enables us to work even closer with our valued clients, and scale-up our service delivery,” said Syed Jafri, Partner and Head of Oliver Wyman’s Bahrain office in tandem with fellow experienced company partners, Ibrahim Ghoul and Mark Kremers.

Pedro Oliveira, Managing Partner of Oliver Wyman across the Middle East, Africa and India, said the move comes in response to growing demand for its expertise, at a time when Bahrain is undergoing a thriving transformation driven by ‘Economic Vision 2030’, the country’s ambitious economic agenda for the coming years.

“With its ambitious economic growth strategy, Bahrain, represents a significant regional market for Oliver Wyman,” said Oliveira. “We always seek to work with organisations that can truly benefit from Oliver Wyman’s expertise and capabilities – including impactful transformation, strategy, digital, risk management, operations, organisational effectiveness, and climate and sustainability.”

Last month, Oliver Wyman was named on the leading management consulting firms in the Middle East for each of these topics – and more.

“We look forward to continuing to work with organisations across the Kingdom to help make Bahrain’s Economic Vision a reality,” Oliveira added.

Grooming national talent

Oliver Wyman will meanwhile also seek to contribute to the development of local talent. The consulting firm already has recruited a team of Bahrani nationals to support its expansion plans, and has announced a series of initiatives that are geared at fostering the growth and development of Bahraini talent, including a program for graduates and one for future leaders.

Jafri: “Our commitment to Bahrani nationals is exemplified through the implementation of comprehensive pathways and programs that will provide talent with invaluable opportunities to collaborate with best-in-class global experts and strategists. These carefully designed programs are specifically tailored to unlock the profound potential of Bahrain’s growing workforce.”

Headquartered in New York, Oliver Wyman has over 6,000 professionals around the world. The firm has been active in the Middle East since 2005, and last year closed a major scoop when it acquired the MENA management consulting business of Booz Allen Hamilton – what formerly was one of the most iconic brands in the region’s consulting landscape.
