EY’s global committee on Wednesday announced they elected Janet Truncale to global chair and chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2024.
Truncale, who will serve a four-year term, is the first woman to lead a Big Four accountancy globally.
She succeeds Carmine Di Sibio, who has led EY’s global network since 2019. Di Sibio championed the global partition of EY’s audit and advisory business – Project Everest – which was scrapped in April because of opposition from US audit partners.
Di Sibio will retire a year earlier than planned, after previously receiving a two-year extension of his term to oversee the proposed split of the firm.
Truncale, who has been at EY since 1991, is currently a regional managing partner for the Americas financial services organization (FSO), leading a team of 14,000 professionals. Before that, she was managing partner for Americas FSO assurance, leading a team of 3,000 professionals. Janet Truncale was selected as next EY global chair and CEODuring her 30+ years at EY, Truncale has provided assurance and consulting services to numerous Fortune 500 firms and served as senior advisory partner to many of EY’s largest clients.
She has an MBA from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a certified public accountant.

EY’s global network of independent member firms has 395,000 people and annual revenue of $49.35 billion.
Fellow Big Four firm PwC last month appointed Mohamed Kande, US and global head of consulting, as its next global chair.
