KPMG has confirmed it is moving to a new headquarters in Luxembourg, where the firm currently employs around 1,800 staff.
Announced last week, the plans still are in the early stages. KPMG has just closed the acquisition of the Kronos building in the Kirchberg district – as well as its 3.23-hectare site. In the coming six years, the area and building will be redeveloped into a brand-new office (size: 31,000 m2) for the professional services giant.
“This project will enable us to shape the work environment of the future. The office is entirely designed to meet the growing needs and expectations of our employees and our clients. We’re planning to create a modern, flexible and sustainable workplace, which will encourage connection, collaboration and innovation,” said David Capocci, Managing Partner at KPMG in Luxembourg.
Formerly used by BNP Paribas as its Luxembourg headquarters, the ‘new’ Kronos building will be built with a wooden support structure, which will make it one of the country’s largest wooden buildings. French company WO2, specialised in the development of large commercial projects in wood, has been selected to build the structure.
Developed by BPI Real Estate, the new office will boast a market-leading sustainability performance. KPMG said it is eyeing to achieve three sustainability certifications (BREEAM, WELL Building Standard and Low Carbon Building Initiative), “satisfying all the pre-requisites of our sustainable development strategy, guaranteeing that we will deliver a new-generation workplace that will stand the test of time,” said Capocci.
KPMG’s office will include a coworking space and a food court, and access to a large park in the Kirchberg plateau.
The current Kronos building will be dismantled in early 2026, with the construction planned for completion by sometime in 2029. KPMG’s current headquarters is located at 39 Avenue John F. Kennedy, a 10-minute walk from the new headquarters.
