The women’s national rugby league competition is set to welcome four new teams into its mix in 2023. One of those, the Canberra Raiders, will be sporting the logo of local consultancy Parbery.

Canberra-based advisory Parbery Consulting has signed up as the front-of-jersey sponsor for the Canberra Raiders inaugural women’s rugby league season, which will run over the course of twelve weeks from July with four new teams making their debut. The initial partnership covers the 2023 and 2024 seasons, with both parties citing an alignment of values and their local community ties.

“Not unlike our first male team jerseys back in 1982, we will be proudly displaying the brand of a successful local company on the front of our playing jumpers in year one of our NRLW existence,” stated Raiders chief executive Don Furner.

“Parbery will be terrific partner in 2023-2024 as collectively we share similar operating principles – collaborative, down-to-earth, and community focused,” Furner added.

Established by former Synergy Group and KPMG director Nick Chapman in 2017, Parbery provides a range of management consulting services to the government, defence, non-profit and small business sectors, such as strategy development, business performance improvement and transformation, project and program management, and financial advisory and assurance among a number of other provisions.

“So excited to be working with the Canberra Raiders in the coming years to help them grow the new Raiders NRLW team,” Chapman said. “What I am most excited about is the alignment in our values. Like Parbery, the Raiders have a deep commitment to the Canberra community and I am discovering that they are doing a lot of work that you just don’t hear too much about. They really are quiet achievers.”

In a press release welcoming Parbery to the team, the Raiders stated that there had been extremely high interest in the club’s NRLW program, with only the one branding designation on the women’s uniforms still available. The other teams debuting alongside the Raiders next season are the Cronulla Sharks, North Queensland Cowboys, and Wests Tigers, expanding the fledgling competition to ten teams.

“I am proud that Parbery’s business success can translate into a partnership centred around supporting our community, promoting, and growing women’s rugby league and giving back to a game we love,” said Kylie Burnett, Parbery’s managing partner since April. “We look forward to growing with the Raiders NRWL team in 2023-2024, and seeing the collective, positive impact we can have in the region.”

Parbery’s move into female sports sponsorship echoes that of fellow Canberra-based advisory Seven Consulting, which has been a sponsor of the Matildas since 2017 before also becoming the naming rights partner of the Opals in September.

Meanwhile, Parbery partners Kim Moeller and Nicholas Kelly and Chief People Officer Ashlea McKay all arrived at the firm via another locally-based consultancy, Synergy.
