Felicia Mar has joined BDO Canada’s Calgary office as a tax partner.

Mar brings more than 15 years of experience advising Canadian private companies on income tax matters. In her new role at BDO, Mar will support clients in Western Canada with planning and managing their tax strategies.

Mar has expertise across corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, divestiture, estate planning, and compliance. She has advised clients in numerous industries, including agriculture, energy services, construction, retail, aviation, hospitality, metals, and professional services.

“Felicia’s extensive experience in overseeing complex tax projects in multiple industries makes her a great addition to the team,” said Nick Kietaibl, partner, Canadian tax, private client services, BDO Canada. “I am excited to work and collaborate with her to continue providing personalized solutions and services to our clients.”

Mar previously was a partner at Ascend LLP CPAs in Calgary. Before that she held leadership roles in the tax departments of Parkland Fuel Corporation and ATCO Group. Earlier in her career, Mar spent seven years at KPMG Canada, where she was latterly a senior manager in the corporate tax practice. She began her career as an audit associate at PwC.

Mar has a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Saskatchewan, a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Victoria, and a CPA certification.

BDO last year bolstered its Calgary office with the addition of Suzanne Schulz as partner and Western Canada leader for forensic disputes and investigations.
