Deloitte Consulting remained atop Modern Healthcare’s annual ranking of the largest healthcare management consulting firms based in the US.
Deloitte US’ sizable healthcare consulting practice realized $2.698 billion in revenue in 2021, with $962.8 million coming from healthcare providers.
Guidehouse jumped from third place 2020 to second place in 2021, achieving $970 million in healthcare consulting revenue, with approximately half from providers. The firm was boosted a significant industry acquisition in 2021, adding Dovel, an 1,800-person IT consultancy with a focus on health IT, life sciences, and public safety.
The core of Guidehouse is PwC US’ former public sector practice combined with Navigant, a management consulting firm that specialized in highly regulated industries.
“This recognition further validates Guidehouse's status as a trusted partner to the broader healthcare industry," said Alicia Harkness, Guidehouse partner and health segment leader.
In third and fourth place, respectively, were healthcare specialist firms Optum ($755 mil) and Vizient ($409.8 mil).
Rounding out the top five was Huron Consulting Group, with $377.6 mil in healthcare industry revenues (all from providers).
Mid-market accounting and consulting firms also had a strong showing in the top half of the Modern Healthcare ranking, with Forvis (#9, $192.6 mil), RSM (#10, $190.8 mil), Crowe (#12, $148.4 mil), and Baker Tilly (#15, $85.3 mil) making appearances.
