Deloitte has effective 1 September acquired The ID Crowd, a learning & development consulting firm based in Sydney.

The deal, Deloitte’s first in its 2022/23 financial year (the firm has a broken financial period running from June), sees a team of around 16 staff join the Human Capital practice of Deloitte Consulting.

The ID Crowd’s team will become part of the Learning & development service line – a practice area that has seen a significant uptick in demand due to the growing need for upskilling and reskilling at a time of labour shortages, and broader changes to how employees are developed as a result of Covid-19-induced changes to ways of working.

Artie Gindidis, a partner at Deloitte, said: “The emergence of hybrid working models, wellbeing issues, skill shortages driven by Covid-19 border closures, and sluggish productivity growth, are serious challenges for private and public sector organisations across the country.”

“The ID Crowd specialises in custom (digital) learning solutions for organisations that can also be combined and customised with existing learning processes. The team’s arrival will add even greater depth to our workplace learning and reskilling service offerings.”

Pip Dexter, leader of Deloitte’s Human Capital practice, added: “As we transition to modern work, the battle to retain and retrain people has never been tougher, so the ability to support employees across their career journey through creative upskilling and reskilling has become more important than ever.”

“Learning clearly supports broader efforts to engage, reskill and retain talent, and is a key part of this puzzle. We’ve watched what The ID Crowd has been doing in the market for some time, and are now excited to be welcoming the team, and all they have to offer our clients.”

Founded in in 2013, The ID Crowd specialises in the design and development of learning programs and solutions. The team works across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, serving clients across the financial services, health, utilities, retail and public sectors.

As part of the deal, The ID Crowd CEO Nicole White and co-owner and COO Lee Booy will take on senior roles in the Human Capital practice.

White: “This wasn't something we had been planning but after talking to Deloitte we saw their passion in creating more human workplaces. The joining of forces provides an amazing opportunity to supercharge our work, improving workplace learning experiences, and make more of an impact at clients.”

For Deloitte’s Human Capital practice, the deal is the first since the 2019 bolt-on of Presence of IT, which bolstered the unit’s HR Transformation and HR Technology offerings. Since, Deloitte has closed more than 15 deals company-wide, with inorganic growth playing a large role in the firm’s double-digit growth path.

Earlier in the summer, Deloitte’s Human Capital practice was named one of Australia’s top human resources consulting firms for 2022 by Consultancy.org, gaining Diamond status alongside Mercer, PwC and Korn Ferry, and ahead of 200+ other consultancies that were assessed by the inaugural benchmark.
