BearingPoint, an Amsterdam-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Brian Knudson as senior manager of business development to help drive the company’s US growth.

Based in the firm’s American headquarters in Chicago, Knudson brings more than two decades of software sales experience, with a focus on SaaS solutions for legal, corporate, and government clients.

He most recently spent a year-and-a-half as a sales executive at Solifi, where he sold an SaaS leasing solution to Fortune 500 firms. Before that, Knudson spent nearly 20 years at Thomson Reuters, holding increasingly senior software sales roles. He latterly served as sales exec for 3E, a law firm management, productivity, and financial solution.

Knudson has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Kansas.

Knudson will focus on expanding BearingPoint’s US practice – which is a core pillar of the European firm’s Strategy 2025 plan.

“We saw incredible growth in our US practice during 2021, and we’re seeing even more dramatic growth in 2022,” said Chetan Rangaswamy, US practice leader at BearingPoint. “This expansion is part of BearingPoint’s commitment to the US market. To support this growth, I am thrilled that Brian Knudson is joining us as one of our Business Development leaders in the US. Brian has a long history of helping clients with world-class services and SaaS.”

BearingPoint traces its roots back to the spin-off of KPMG’s consulting business in 2000. In 2002, the firm acquired a majority of Arthur Andersen’s business consulting practices and rebranded as BearingPoint. In the wake of the financial crisis, the firm’s US operations filed for bankruptcy and were sold to PwC and Deloitte in 2009. BearingPoint’s European partners completed a management buyout and continued the company.

Today the firm has more than 4,600 people in Europe as well as offices in the US and China to serve its large corporate clients. The firm provides services in people and strategy, operations, finance and risk, customer and growth, and technology. It currently has one US location in Chicago.

BearingPoint has global alliances with ABeam Consulting for Asia, West Monroe Partners for North America, and Grupo ASSA for South America.

“I am very excited to be part of BearingPoint and its development in the US,” Knudson said. “We recognize the importance of change, and it’s great seeing companies transform and succeed with our advisory services. The IP and people at BearingPoint are top-notch, and we have everything from world class consulting services to software to enable companies to get where they need to be."

The firm says it is currently investing in its advisory services in the US and expanding its enterprise resource planning capabilities.
