FTI Consulting, announced that the firm’s Technology segment has appointed Jon Asprey and Debbie Evans as Managing Directors in its Information Governance, Privacy & Security (“IGP&S”) practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”).

Mr. Asprey is based in London and brings more than 20 years of experience in privacy, information governance, data science, analytics and regulatory compliance for clients in financial services, media, technology and healthcare. He understands the spectrum of corporate data risks and opportunities and works with clients to drive improved data quality, leverage data assets in a compliant manner and apply information governance and privacy principles.

Ms. Evans specialises in data protection, information security, cloud computing, data and IT outsourcing. She has led regulatory compliance, security, corporate governance and data privacy programmes within large, global organisations for more than 20 years.

“Despite data governance and privacy having been top areas of focus for corporations over the last several years, many continue to struggle with meeting their obligations and are experiencing declining readiness in the face of related risks,” said Jake Frazier, a Senior Managing Director and the Global Leader of the IGP&S practice within FTI Technology. “With an ever-evolving array of data protection laws to contend with globally and an increasingly fraught threat landscape, organisations need support in establishing robust governance programmes that build operational, regulatory, financial and reputational resiliency. We’re continuing to grow our EMEA IGP&S team to meet these needs. The collective expertise that Jon and Debbie bring to our practice will play a key role in helping our clients achieve compliance while continuing to pursue data innovation.”

Mr. Asprey’s experience includes leadership roles within numerous consultancies and technology companies in which he enabled effective use of data through custom-built organisational models and produced the cultural and organisational change required to support sound information governance practices. Mr. Asprey is also experienced in complex global stakeholder management, driving business change and liaising with regulatory authorities on his clients’ behalf. Prior to joining FTI Technology, he led the EMEA Privacy and Data Protection team at a global consulting firm, where he supported numerous large technology and privacy transformation programmes.

Ms. Evans has held numerous senior in-house governance and compliance roles for corporations in technology, biopharmaceutical, media and other highly regulated industries. She served as a senior data protection lawyer for a life sciences organisation and a large telecommunications organisation, where she supported GDPR compliance. Prior to joining FTI Technology, Ms. Evans was the group data protection officer at Rentokil Initial and ran an independent compliance consultancy in the UK.

Nina Bryant, a Senior Managing Director and head of the UK IGP&S practice within FTI Technology, added, “As our privacy practice has expanded throughout EMEA, we’ve built a team of experts to offer a depth and breadth of advisory services in addition to tackling data issues hands-on. This combination of strategic guidance alongside technical sophistication positions us to help clients with their existing data challenges and build solutions for emerging issues. Jon and Debbie each bring unique experience that will bolster our offerings, including Privacy by Design, Data Privacy Officer and Data Governance solutions in EMEA.”
