Coeus' work with Shell Energy has been shortlisted for the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) awards 2022.
Coeus are delighted to have been shortlisted by an independent panel of judges for the highly prestigious Technology Transformation category of the MCA awards this year.
Coeus helped Shell Energy to create a new digital retail energy platform (within just 9 months) to enable their 2050 net-zero goals. It is expected to lead to $50-$100 million revenue and 2 million+ new retail energy customers.
The judges shortlisted the Coeus project, the only one by an SME, due to it clearly meeting the category criteria:
"Demonstration of a successful consulting project which has delivered a fundamental technology transformation for a client with clear sustainable benefits delivered for the organization and using innovative techniques.
The winning entry will be able to demonstrate how technology has brought cost benefits, improved internal processes and generated new opportunities for the client."
Technology Transformation Project of the Year
A summary of the Coeus - Shell Energy project is below:
"Historically operating within oil and gas, Shell needed to launch a new, renewable energy business for the retail market as part of their transformation into a carbon-neutral organisation by 2050.
Shell’s objective was to win new energy consumers by providing a competitively-priced, customer-centric offering based on renewable energy. This entailed building a completely new retail energy business within only nine months using world-class technology in a highly competitive, digital marketplace.
To meet the challenge, Shell engaged the consultancy to help with its technology transformation, since Shell had limited knowledge of the global retail market, customer requirements and digital technology.
The UK-based consultancy team helped Shell Energy in the Netherlands deliver a new, digital consumer offering, within aggressive time frames and a tight client budget - from strategy and software vendor sourcing, to running the project and launching the new business. In an industry-first, the consultancy persuaded Shell and its global vendors to collaborate to create an innovative combination of multiple SaaS products, delivering a differentiated, affordable solution.
At times the project was so challenging that Shell had C-Level talks around stopping the build. It is highly likely that without the consultancy team driving the project, the business would not have been launched within the timeframe – or may have been abandoned.
The successful delivery of the project enabled Shell to launch a new retail energy business within the Netherlands. As the platform is rolled out globally this is expected to lead to $50-$100 million revenue and 2 million+ new retail energy customers."
