Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) business district has attracted two of the world’s leading management consulting firms, with both Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company signing on to multi-year office rentals in the district’s Maker Maxity complex.

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has picked up nearly 100,000 square feet office space at the Maker Maxity complex, which is strategically located just at the beginning of the Bandra-Kurla Complex business region.

The global strategy consulting giant has leased office space on the ground floor, sixth floor, and ninth floor in Maker Maxity’s North Avenue 2 for a total of 10 years, with a lock-in period of six years.

The entire lease agreement will see Boston Consulting Group pay rent and deposit of over Rs 560 crore over the total tenure of the contract.

Rahool Pai Panandiker, managing director and partner, who leads the Mumbai office operations at BCG, said: “We are expanding our office space in Mumbai, this is in line with our organisation’s historic growth and strong growth expectations going forward.”

“We will be creating a unique space that integrates the new paradigm of working models as well as our commitment to climate action, deeply imbued with the special spirit of Mumbai, India and our heritage.”

BCG’s expanded office space in Maker Maxity (the consultancy already had 18,000 square feet of office space at the complex) comes hot on the heels of McKinsey & Company’s entry into the development.

Per the 1st of October last year, McKinsey & Company has taken 45,000 square feet office space at the 20 acre premium property. According to the transaction, McKinsey is leasing the office for 5 years, for a total rental fee of nearly Rs 100 crore.

In Mumbai, McKinsey currently operates out of its office at Nariman Point in the city’s southern business district. The firm will retain the 21st floor of its existing office at Express Towers in Nariman Point, and add the space in Maker Maxity to offer its employees a more diversified office experience.

“We envision this new space to be a truly modern facility defined by an optimised and multipurpose use of space, in line with our hybrid working model and sustainability focus – a workplace of the future,” said a spokesperson of McKinsey.

Outside of Mumbai, the global strategy giant also has offices in Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Chennai. BCG’s other offices in India are based in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Chennai, and New Delhi.
