AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, announced that cybersecurity and compliance specialist Shawn Belovich has joined as a Managing Director in the firm’s Digital practice. He will be based in the Washington, DC office.

Shawn is a recognized cybersecurity expert, having managed enterprise-wide security strategy in the White House, where he was Deputy Chief Information Security Officer in the Executive Office of the President (EOP) from November 2013 to July 2018. In this role, he was responsible for the global protection of White House information, security and technology risk assessment efforts, the EOP’s digital forensic team, FRA and PRA electronic record management program, and managed the team responsible for day-to-day electronic discovery operations.

During his time at the White House, Shawn managed the design and execution of a comprehensive enterprise-wide security strategy and vision including the maintenance of information security policy and standards, disaster recovery, business continuity, security monitoring, knowledge management, and security training programs. He engineered and managed President Obama’s electronic data transfer program to accession Presidential Records to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) delivering a historic and unprecedented amount of electronic records, ahead of schedule and under budget. In addition, Shawn managed the development and implementation of the auditing processes which have successfully reduced risk to the EOP and was senior advisor for Information Risk Management (IRM), technology policy and data governance.

More recently, Shawn was a Managing Director in BDO USA LLP’s Forensic practice, responsible for business development and providing leadership and subject matter expertise in high-profile forensic investigations, cybersecurity, incident response, data breach privacy reviews, and international compliance monitoring matters. He received his BA degree from Alvernia University and MS degree in Information Systems and Technology Management from Capella University.
