EY-Parthenon, the strategy consulting arm of EY, has acquired Quantitative Scientific Solutions (QS-2), an Arlington, VA-based technical consulting and data analytics firm.

Founded in 2013, QS-2 provides scientific consulting, systems engineering, data analytics, and testing and evaluation services to public sector and commercial clients, with deep subject matter expertise in autonomous systems, AI, machine learning, and application of biotech and aviation-related tools.

The firm has more than 40 professionals, according to LinkedIn. Over 75% of QS-2’s staff have a PhD in their fields of expertise, which includes applied mathematics, biology, physics, optics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, and machine learning.

EY-Parthenon’s acquisition of QS-2 will add technical consulting capabilities that help companies invest in emerging technology, according to a press release.

“EY-Parthenon has leading-class strategy, operational and financial capabilities. QS2’s deep experience in scientific and engineering consulting and the ability to translate the disordered universe of 'big data' into actionable insights strengthens EY-Parthenon teams’ abilities to help clients understand the impacts of emerging technologies, make better investment decisions, and improve performance,” said Mitch Berlin, EY Americas vice chair — strategy and transactions.

EY-Parthenon is the fifth-largest strategy consulting organization by revenue, with more than 7,000 professionals and 750 partners across EY member firms globally. The practice advises on corporate and growth strategy, transaction strategy and execution, and turnaround and restructuring.

“The ever-changing landscape makes it difficult for organizations to keep pace,” said David Guarrera, QS2 founding partner and director of analytics. “At QS2, we work with our clients to solve difficult science and technology challenges of global significance, and now we are able to combine that with the capabilities and global reach of EY-Parthenon, an organization that aligns with our values and vision for the future.”

EY-Parthenon last year acquired CMA Strategy Consulting, a TMT specialist firm with approximately 65 people in Boston, San Francisco, and London.
