European consulting firm Valcon has appointed a new partner in its Dutch team: Eelco Simon.

Eelco Simon has been with the consulting firm since early 2019, when he joined its ranks with close to two decades of experience in industry. “I had previously worked in various expert, project management and director roles in e-commerce, logistics, telecom and financial services,” said Simon.

During this period, Eelco enjoyed the dynamics of project-based work around business change, finance and performance improvement – all enabled by technology. Keen to expand his focus on transformation-related work, Simon crossed to consulting and joined First Consulting as a Senior Manager.

Fast forward two years, and Simon has now made the step up to partner, recognised for the strong contribution he has made to the firm’s growth in the manufacturing and retails sectors. He specialises in business model optimisation, process excellence, operations and digital transformation.

Meanwhile, the consultancy he initially joined has underwent a major transformation itself. When Simon joined, First Consulting was a local Dutch player with around 200 consultants. Today, the firm operates under the Valcon brand and has 1,300 employees in nearly ten European countries. The growth was driven by organic growth as well as an M&A campaign that saw four deals close.

In the role of partner, Simon leads the Industry and Retail practices in The Netherlands. He also has been handed more responsibilities in terms of client management, internal operations and practice development.

“I am proud to be appointed a partner at Valcon. I look forward to journey ahead,” said Simon.
