Charles River Associates (CRA), a Boston-headquartered management consultancy, has hired Ozgur Kan, PhD, as a vice president in the firm’s finance practice. He is based in New York.
Kan brings more than 20 years of consulting, industry, and academic experience in finance. He has extensive experience providing advisory and expert testimony on credit ratings, analysis, assessments, modeling, and validation.
Kan has performed numerous reviews, analyses, audits, and validations of asset models and algorithmic investment approaches for investment funds and alternative investment vehicles. He has expertise in advanced modeling of interest rates and foreign exchange and valuation of credit instruments, structured deals, workout assessments, and hard-to-value transactions and securities.
Kan joins CRA from Berkeley Research Group (BRG), where he spent nearly a decade and was a managing director and leader of the credit analytics practice. Before that, he was head of credit methodology at GE Capital – Americas and a director in Moody’s consulting group, where he led engagements in credit ratings, risk methodologies, and underwriting.
Earlier in his career, Kan was an assistant professor of finance at Western Connecticut State University and The State University of New York.
He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from Middle East Technical University, Turkey, and a PhD in finance and international business from Old Dominion University. Kan is also a CFA charterholder.
