David Morgenstern has been named president of Accenture Canada, effective December 1.

Based in Toronto, Morgenstern succeeds Jeffrey Russell, who is retiring next month.

Russell has spent 25 years at Accenture and served as Canada president for the last four years. He oversaw significant business growth across sectors as well as seven acquisitions – Eclipse Automation, Solvera Solutions, XtremeEDA, Gevity, Cloudworks, Avenai, and Callisto Integration. The deals particularly expanded Accenture Canada’s capabilities in manufacturing automation and technology.

“I thank Jeffrey for his 25 years at Accenture,” said Jimmy Etheredge, CEO of Accenture North America. “Jeffrey balanced achieving business growth with impactful contributions to our communities.”

Morgenstern brings more than 25 years of management and technology consulting experience to the role, where he will lead Accenture Canada’s growth strategy, workforce, and service delivery.

He has been at Accenture since 2010, most recently leading Accenture Canada’s consumer and industrials client group. In the role, Morgenstern had P&L responsibility for the retail, consumer, telecom, transportation, and industrial sectors across the consulting firm’s offering portfolio.

He previously was global go-to-market leader for Accenture’s procurement services offering. He is a member of Accenture's global leadership council, Accenture Canada’s management committee, and inclusion and diversity council.

Morgenstern joined Accenture through the acquisition of Ariba’s consulting business, which he led. He spent 12 years at the procurement software firm, also serving as Asia regional director.

Prior to joining Ariba, Morgenstern founded and led a boutique Beijing-based consultancy focusing on Asia market entry and supply chain advisory. He has an MBA from Insead and a bachelor’s degree from McGill University.

“We are pleased to welcome David as president of Accenture in Canada,” Etheredge said. “David is a seasoned leader who believes in diversity as a driver for innovation, which is a cornerstone for growth. With his impressive breadth of experience and insights, he will continue to create exciting and sustainable opportunities for our people, clients, and communities.”

Accenture Canada has 5,682 full-time employees and offices across Canada’s major metropolitan areas. The wider firm has 721,000 people providing services in strategy and consulting, technology and operations, and digital marketing.
