The head of North East operations at professional services company Accenture has hailed its 'exceptional growth' following announcements that it would create thousands new jobs in the UK including in key areas such as Newcastle.

Allan King said that the year has been 'very strong for Accenture, but it hasn't been without its challenges'.

He added: "The demand for our services has been excellent throughout 2021, which in turn has fuelled exceptional growth.

"However, that exceptional growth has driven the competition for talent to new heights, which has challenged us not only to attract the right level of talent but to retain key talent within our business."

The company, which has global operations providing services such as cloud technology, data and analytics and technology consulting, recently unveiled plans to create 1,500 new jobs in its key regional locations including Newcastle, Yorkshire and the North West.

King said that Accenture North East is 'always looking for new ways to expand operations'.

He added: "As the home to the UKI Advanced Technology Centre, the North East is the largest regional location for Accenture, and it will continue to grow over the coming years.

"In short, the North East will continue to play a key role in Accenture's regional expansion, and we're excited to continue nurturing our existing and future talent."

King noted that over the next 12 months, Accenture wants to continue its story of growth, adding: "Recruitment will be a key factor for us in the North East and, if we chat again this time next year, I hope we will have exceeded our targets and grown our offering in the region."
