The global growth story of Boston Consulting Group subsidiary BCG Platinion continues, with the Middle East its next stop.

Commenting on the launch, Joerg Hildebrandt, who heads Boston Consulting Group in the Middle East, said: “The Middle East is currently working on the great digitalisation leap. We want to provide strategic support for these efforts. The best way to do that is to have proven IT specialists directly on site.”

Established in 2000, BCG Platinion is a digital and technology focused subsidiary of Boston Consulting Group – one of the world’s leading strategy consulting firms. The arm helps clients (typically enterprises and large groups) with designing, engineering and implementing digital products, platforms, and solutions.

Riding heightened demand for digital expertise on the back of the tech-led disruption reshaping businesses and even entire sectors, BCG Platinion has seen stellar growth over the past years. Today, the consulting firm has more than 750 digital experts working from 30+ locations in Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia Pacific, and now also the Middle East.

Launching with a team of ten consultants in Dubai, BCG Platinion has already hit the ground running, said Santeri Kirvelä, BCG Platinion’s Regional Leader for among others the Middle East. “We have a track record of many successful IT projects in the Middle East and we’re seeing great demand for digital expertise, especially in the financial services, energy, technology, media, and telecommunications industries, as well as the public sector.”

“BCG Platinion’s core competencies, such as enterprise architecture, human-centered design, cybersecurity, and agility, are in high demand in the Gulf region,” he added.

Alain Schneuwly, appointed Managing Director of BCG Platinion Middle East (he previously headed and grew BCG Platinion in South East Asia and has now relocated to Dubai to repeat his trick), said: “With a permanent presence, we can better enable our clients directly on site and deepen the relationships we already have.”

“We have high ambitions to grow in the region, especially in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and other markets over time. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build a team here that will add real value to the Middle East,” Schneuwly added.

According to the latest market sizing data available, digital-related work now accounts for more than a quarter of all consulting work in the region. Saudi Arabia’s is the region’s largest consultancy market, representing around half of the GCC consulting market.

Other subsidiaries of Boston Consulting Group include BrightHouse (purpose consulting), BCG Inverto (supply chain and procurement consulting), BCG Gamma (artificial intelligence) and BCG Digital Ventures (corporate innovation and business building services).
