The Cabinet recently approved the awarding of a US$959,094 (J$146,942,791) contract to Ernst and Young Services Limited for the continued provision of consulting services for the public service compensation review for the Government of Jamaica.
The announcement was made by Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Fayval Williams, at a recent post-Cabinet press briefing.
The Government is seeking to implement the public sector compensation review, beginning April 1 of this year. The review is intended to overhaul the structure of salaries and other emoluments in the public service to make it more equitable.
In the meantime, Williams also disclosed that two, two-storey mini warehouses are to be constructed at the Garmex Free Zone (GFZ) Complex in Kingston. This follows Cabinet’s approval of the awarding of a $338 million contract by Factories Corporation of Jamaica to Tank-Weld Limited for the construction.
In addition, Cabinet approved the awarding of a $72.72 million contract to PricewaterhouseCoopers for the provision of external auditing services for the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) and its subsidiaries for a period of three years, ending March 31, 2023.
