In April this year, Archer Knight – an Aberdeen-based market intelligence and consulting firm specialised in the oil & gas market – sought support and regional guidance for the opening of its new office in Singapore. The firm hired Poseidon Consulting to support this process.
Based in Singapore, Poseidon Consulting is a commercial services and business development consultancy specialised in oil and energy. The boutique helps its clients with market intelligence, market entry into Singapore (commercial due diligence, lead generation, etc) and building a network in the country and region.
Archer Knight and Poseidon Consulting pull out of partnership when the two companies agreed the partnership, leaders of both firms expressed their delight at the tie-up. “Having someone of Andrew’s calibre [Andrew Threlfall, the managing director of Poseidon Consulting] on board helps us accelerate our strategic plans,” said Archer Knight co-founder & managing director Mike Watson. Threlfall meanwhile said he was “impressed with Archer Knight’s offering.”
However, within one month of the signing of the Letter of Agreement, Archer Knight elected to terminate the agreement and then – according to Threlfall – “refused to settle” an outstanding payment. “After a prolonged and eventually fruitless period of discussion, we decided to seek the help of the Singapore State Courts to settle the claim,” Threlfall said.
Last month, an agreement was reached after which the State Courts issued an order for Archer Knight to settle the original payment claim.
Commented on the Court order, Threlfall said: “I am pleased to see that our position in this matter was vindicated and that we can now focus our efforts on providing our commercial and business development expertise to reputable companies who seek advice, guidance and local representation within South East Asia.”o support this process.
