FTI Consulting has appointed two new Managing Directors in its Middle East team. Both Oliver Carter and Ryan Holmes join the firm’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.

Oliver Carter has more than 16 years of professional experience and has been with FTI Consulting for nearly a decade, based in the firm’s London office. Having now relocated to Dubai, he strengthens FTI Consulting’s financial restructuring advisory capabilities in the region with a focus on services to distressed businesses.

Carter’s expertise ranges from debt advisory and restructuring consultancy to independent business reviews for lenders and sponsors of leveraged businesses, and corporate-side interim roles. His arrival comes at a time of growing financial distress in the MENA region on the back of the Covid-19-induced downturn.

“There is a growing focus on financial restructuring among our clients, especially due to the ongoing pandemic. We are delighted with Oliver’s transfer,” said Vikas Papriwal, Head of FTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring division in the Middle East.

Ryan Holmes meanwhile has joined FTI Consulting in Abu Dhabi. He brings over two decades of consulting experience to the firm, gained at two industry majors: EY and Accenture. Prior to joining, Holmes was an Executive Director at EY in Dubai, and before that, he spent fifteen years at Accenture, latterly as a member of the firm’s Middle East leadership team and country head of the Qatar organisation.

A leader in FTI Consulting’s Business Transformation practise, Holmes will focus on providing transformational change and strategic consulting services to Middle East clients across a wide range of industries, with a focus on clients in the energy and utility sector.

His track record includes advising large oil & gas and utility clients on complex transformation programs, digital strategies, and new market and segment entry. “Ryan has deep and intrinsic knowledge of the energy market. We are pleased to welcome an individual with his standing and know-how,” said Stephen Haw, Middle East Lead for Business Transformation at FTI Consulting.
